70 Years After The Establishment Of The First Cat Litter Brand Jan 22, 2018

Most cat owners will not be cats as a beast to teach, although they are much more difficult to tame dogs, but still want it to stay indoors, clean and decent, like a well-educated family members.

To achieve this universal ideal, can not do without a thing called cat litter. Because of the growing population of cats, these capsule particles, or simply loose loose debris, sold $ 4.93 billion last year worldwide.

Given that you may not yet be one of them, allow us to explain the peculiarities of this product:

Cat litter is used to collect cat's excrement. Pour them into a well-sized container - a litter box called a litter box to create a cat-like bowel movement. With only a few introductions, cats find the same place in their home as their ancestors did in the wild. They gradually spotted here, no longer wantonly. After finishing the job, she will also be able to freely dance his paw and use cat litter to hide the excrement. This is the survival of the gene reserves, so as to prevent the mighty animals from discovering their whereabouts.

But until 1947, no one thought it would be a good business.

Earlier, most people used cat litter to build indoors by using sand, sawdust, or other landfill at hand. Cat urine protein concentration is high, the room will continue to filled with strange odor.

Kaye Draper, who lives in Kasopalis, northeast of Michigan, used to treat cat litter with sand. On an ice and snow day in January 1947, Mrs Draper found the box containing sand frozen. She made a mistake, trying to knock on the neighbor's door. Edward Lowe, a neighbor's son, has just retired from the Navy and is 27, helping to manage his father's sawdust business. When he gated, he thought of the bag of clay in the trunk of the car. The clay was dried and grained. According to his father, it had strong water absorption and was fireproof enough. Lowe suggested that Mrs. Draper try it.

Mrs Draper's experience should be good, because she came back a few days later. At least Lowe is saying that. Edward Lowe later liked frequent stories: Inspired by this, Edward Lowe took 10 large bags of clay particles, wrote "Kitty litter," and went to a grocery store.

Edward Lowe is now regarded as the founder of cat litter, and the 10 bags of 70 years ago marked "Kitty Litter" clay as the starting point of this business. Five pounds of sand was only 5 cents at the time, and it was also possible to collect waste. Lowe suggested that the grocery store fix the 65-cent price on these 5-pound (about 2.25 kg) clay and startled the grocer's boss. But as expected, clay was sold for water absorption and Lowe founded the company named after it.

In the 70 years since then, new cat litter has been released, and manufacturers have become law-ably satisfied with the different needs of cats and cats. These products, in turn, have stimulated interest in keeping cats, and according to the publicly available data from APPA, between 2015-2016, almost 85.8 million cats were raised in the United States. In China, according to consulting firm Euromonitor International, in 2016 there were 11.95 million domestic cats, but this number is still less than half that of dogs and even less than that of birds.

Big companies have also identified pet care as a new growth point beyond human consumers. They are now the largest owners in this market.
